Turning On God's GPS

JACOB'S BOOK: JOURNAL & TO-DO LIST

The Jacob's Book is a unique, dual-purpose planner that features two daily pages, suggesting one page for journaling and one page for a to-do list. Designed to help you align your daily activities with God's purpose, this calendar includes space for goal-setting, prayer journaling, tracking Bible reading and fasting, and organizing tasks. Through spiritual reflections and scripture, the Jacob's Book encourages users to keep faith at the heart of every decision.

The purpose of Jacob's Book is to offer a tool that goes beyond a simple planner, helping you invite God's guidance into your everyday plans. The vision is for each user to navigate life with renewed intention and purpose, experiencing a closer walk with God as they align their goals and actions with His will. The Jacob's Book is a roadmap for those seeking to grow in faith while staying organized and focused on what matters most.

My mother, Sis. Agnes Holmes, had the revelation that the angels on "Jacob's Ladder" were sent from God carrying messages from Heaven to Earth. Jacob's early morning experience had such a profound effect that it ordered his steps, giving him direction from that day forward. God turned on Jacob's GPS.

Turning on God's Positioning System (GPS) starts with daily, early morning prayer. God's GPS will let you take control of your day before it takes control of you - live life on the offense (GO GET THEM) and not on the defense (only dealing with what comes your way)!

This Jacob's Book is similar to a day scheduler that I have used for many years and continue to carry today. Research has shown that those who write their goals down are 76% more likely to achieve their goals. This book will be a great reminder of what you did not finish the day before. Remember, "Out of sight, out of mind." Keeping a record of your daily activities may one day prove invaluable. Just ask Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh who disproved malicious attacks on his character simply by producing 30-year-old records of his whereabouts.

Carrying a day scheduler, similar to this one, is the greatest tool God has ever given me for winning and shepherding souls (while praying early in the morning, I would have a flow of names come to mind; I would write them down and contact those people that day), receiving thoughts from God to prepare messages, directing staff and volunteers, managing building projects, and having direction for my day, week, month, and year. Remembering someone's name is a great tool; this book gives you a place to jot it down after meeting someone for the first time.

In 1918, Charles Schwab, President of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and one of the world's wealthiest men, hired a consultant named Ivy Lee to produce a list of tasks to increase his company's productivity. The result, called the Ivy Lee Method, consisted of 5 steps:

  1. At the end of each day, write down the most important things you need to accomplish tomorrow.
  2. Prioritize those items in order of their true importance.
  3. When you arrive tomorrow, concentrate on those tasks.
  4. Move any unfinished items to a new list of tasks for the following day.
  5. Repeat this process every day.

When asked the cost of the consulting, Mr. Lee replied, "Nothing. Unless it works. Then, pay me whatever you feel it is worth." The productivity of Mr. Schwab's company increased to such an extent that he wrote Mr. Lee a $25,000 check, equivalent to $560,000 in 2024. In Luke 16:8 Jesus said, "The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light." I assure you, consistent use of this book will change your life.

Although the key is starting your day with God's GPS turned on, you will get thoughts throughout the day that will be lost if they are not written down. Carry this Jacob's Book with you daily so you can write it down!

We have asked ministers around the world to submit their favorite verse to help inspire you. At the bottom of each page, you will find a scripture for the day.
